Satin set Merveilleuse is a new, unusual, and bright approach to fashion introduced by the rebellious youth movement Incroyables and Merveilleuses in the times of the French Revolution (1789-99). Supporters of this movement were distinguished not only by their extravagant political views, but also the style of their clothing. They used to wear exaggeratedly luxuriant clothing of fellow courtiers of Louis XVI in order to emphasize disregard to luxe.
Craftswomen of the atelier Yves Delorme work for more than a month to create all-white bed linen Merveilleuse, decorating it with abstract images inspired by Chinese flowers which were fashionable at the beginning of the XIX century; curls of golden powdered wigs, refined French lacework Chantilly… Embroidery is made with white cotton and soft golden threads on a white cotton net. Embroidering is made following the rules of hand-made work.
